During the Chipmunks' benefit concert in Paris, France, David Seville (Jason Lee) is badly injured after a falling billboard sends him flying across the stage into electric devices.

After the accident, Dave is rushed to the hospital. Even though he survives, he must stay to recuperate, leaving his Aunt Jackie to look after the Chipmunks, while arrangements are also made for them to go to school.

Arriving at the L.A. airport, the Chipmunks meet up with Jackie, who introduces her grandson, Toby Seville (Zachary Levi). After Jackie falls down a staircase and a luggage trolley crashes into her, she, too, is sent to a hospital, leaving Toby in charge.

Meanwhile, Ian Hawke (David Cross), now unemployed, lives in the basement of JETT Records. A FedEx truck comes around the corner, and a package falls out. Three singing female chipmunks, Brittany (Christina Applegate), Jeanette (Anna Faris) and Eleanor (Amy Poehler), who call themselves the Chipettes, emerge from the package and introduce themselves to Ian. Brittany says that, since Ian made the Chipmunks stars, they want to be stars, too. To prove their talent, they sing "Put Your Records On," and Ian hires them.

During their first day at school, Alvin, Simon and Theodore catch the attention of the females in their class. The jocks grow jealous, physically bullying them and resulting in all parties being sent to the Principal's Office. There, they discover that the Principal, Dr. Rubin, is a huge fan of the Chipmunks. She consequently asks the Chipmunks to save the school’s music program by representing their school in the Battle of the Bands in exchange for not suspending them. The Chipmunks immediately accept the offer. Meanwhile, when Ian receives his daily newspaper, he is shocked to find the Chipmunks on the front page. After he reads the story, he quickly sends the Chipettes to school.

Tension between Alvin and Simon develops as Alvin begins socialising with the jocks of the school. However, the one who is most affected is Theodore, who believes he is losing his brothers because they are fighting all the time.

When the Chipmunks meet the Chipettes, they gain crushes on their counterparts, but are soon forced to have a rivalry after discovering that they are with Ian. The Chipmunks and the Chipettes compete against each other in the Battle of the Bands. During lunchtime, Alvin meets up with Brittany, sharing a slight romantic moment with her until he warns her about Ian’s past. Not believing him, Brittany leaves. Soon after, Alvin helps the school to win in a football game.

At the concert, the Chipettes sing "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)". Ian videotapes the Chipettes performance and posts it on YouTube, along with his phone number. Later, when the Chipmunks have to sing, Alvin fails to show up as he was hanging out with the jocks. This causes Simon and Theodore to forfeit the contest, as they can't sing without Alvin. After the singing, Simon and Theodore said that they can't sing twice without Alvin, they just surrendered. Soon after, the Chipettes win the competition. When Alvin finally reaches on-scene, he finds the school closed and is ignored by his brothers at home. Later, Theodore runs away, leaving a letter in the refrigerator to explain his actions. He escapes to the zoo, where he accidently lands up in the Birds of Prey exhibition. Alvin, Simon and Toby arrive just in time to save him and the four of them make amends with each other.

Soon, the Chipettes are hired as the opening act at a Britney Spears concert at the Staples Center. Unfortunately, the concert is on the same night as the school contest, so Ian decides to blow off the battle and make the Chipettes perform at the concert. However, Jeanette confronts Ian, telling him that they want to go to the school contest. Ian refuses and orders Brittany to sing alone at the concert on stage, with Jeanette and Eleanor acting as back-up. When she refuses, he threatens to send them to a barbecue restaurant.

At the school, the school contest is approaching. Alvin gets a phone call from Brittany, saying that she and her sisters have been imprisoned in a cage. Alvin races to save them on his motorbike while Simon tells Jeanette how to open the cage on the phone. The Chipettes unlock the cage lid with Simon's help before Ian reaches them and manage to escape with Alvin on his bike. On the bike, Brittany apologizes to Alvin for not believing him about Ian.

Alvin gets help from Digger, who comes out from the manhole. Ian's limo hit a store. He gleefully gets a RC helicopter. But Alvin has a plan, jumping at the RC. Brittany has a plan: throwing their helmets on Ian. Dropping the remote, Jeanette reaches it, Eleanor throws her shoes in the ground, it hits the moving bike and it hits Ian's groin. Alvin and the Chipettes make their getaway successfully. The Chipmunks are preparing to surrender again, yet Toby sings for them. The Chipettes and Alvin arrive and they all sing "We Are Family". They win the grand prize and save the program.

At the Staples Center, Ian attempts to impersonate the Chipettes while singing Single Ladies. He is booed off by the crowd and taken away by security.

Back at the school, The Chipmunks and Chipettes sing ‘Shake your Groove Thing’ and all of the students dance.

Meanwhile, Dave takes the Chipettes and they now sleep in a 3-tiered bunk bed in each side, the Chipmunks in the left and the Chipettes in the right. They wish good night to their own counterparts. Alvin refuses to sleep and turns on/off the lights at Dave. He trips over Alvin's board and Alvin finally goes to sleep and turns the lights off. The Chipmunks and the Chipettes photos can be seen in the credits.

The post credits show the jocks cleaning bleachers with Dr. Rubin watching them.

An epilogue shows Ian being thrown into a dumpster backstage by security.

Troubled by a recurring dream featuring a host of strange creatures, nineteen-year-old Alice Kingsley (Mia Wasikowska) attends a party at a Victorian estate shortly after the death of her beloved father. She learns that the formal affair is actually an engagement party to eventually wed her into the Ascot family who now own her father's trading firm. Unsure of how to reply to Hamish Ascot's proposal, Alice runs away and follows the White Rabbit (Michael Sheen). She then falls down a rabbit hole into Underland, a bizarre world she previously visited as a child, although she has lost most memory of it and believes what she remembers of it to have been a dream. It is explained throughout the course of the film that Iracebeth, the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter), conquered Underland by stealing the ruling crown from her sister Mirana, the White Queen (Anne Hathaway), but Alice will slay the Red Queen's guardian, the Jabberwocky, on the Frabjous Day using the Vorpal Sword. However, a misunderstanding of words from Absolem the Caterpillar (Alan Rickman) makes everyone believe that she is "the wrong Alice." The forces of the Red Queen attack, and kidnap Rabbit, Uilleam the Dodo (Michael Gough), and Tweedledum and Tweedledee (Matt Lucas), while Alice escapes. The Knave of Hearts, Ilosovic Stayne (Crispin Glover) informs the Red Queen of Alice's return; the Red Queen subsequently orders her capture.

Alice is found by the Cheshire Cat (Stephen Fry), a grinning cat, who leads her to the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp), Thackery Earwicket (Paul Whitehouse) and Dormouse (Barbara Windsor). As Stayne searches for Alice, The Hatter flees toward the White Queen's castle with a shrunken Alice but is captured, with Alice narrowly escaping their notice. A bloodhound named Bayard (Timothy Spall), forced to work for the Red Queen due to the imprisonment of his family, aids Alice in secretly infiltrating the Red Queen's castle to rescue The Hatter. Rabbit, now a page for the Red Queen, gives Alice a small cake that makes her grow to a large size, but she fools the Red Queen into believing she is "Um from Umbradge." Meanwhile, the Hatter serves as the Red Queen's personal milliner in an attempt to delay his impending execution. Alice learns that the Vorpal Sword is hidden in the den of the Bandersnatch, whose eye was earlier removed by the Dormouse. Alice restores its eye, and it helps her escape from the castle with Bayard. The Cat saves the Hatter and Mallymkun from execution, and they lead all of the enslaved Underland creatures to flee the Red Queen's castle. Alice delivers the Vorpal Sword to the White Queen and returns to her normal size, but she remains unsure whether she can kill the Jabberwocky.

Absolem, going into his pupa stage, reminds Alice of her past visit to Underland, which she mistakenly understood then to be called Wonderland, and gives her the courage and belief to fight the Jabberwocky. On the Frabjous Day, the forces of the White and Red Queens converge on a checkered battlefield to decide the fate of Underland. The White Queen offers her sister a chance for peace one last time, but the Red Queen refuses, summoning the Jabberwocky (Christopher Lee). Alice fights the Jabberwocky and is nearly killed but the Hatter distracts it, starting an all-out brawl between the Red Queen's and White Queen's forces. The Hatter fights and overcomes Stayne as Alice beheads the Jabberwocky. Without the beast to instill fear, the Red Queen is deposed and banished with Stayne to the outlands forever. Alice returns home, where she refuses Hamish's proposal and becomes an apprentice for his father with the idea of beginning trade routes with Hong Kong. The film ends with Alice sailing away on a ship (nicknamed "Wonder") with Absolem, now as a butterfly, fluttering off and away from her shoulder.

The Archangel Michael (Bettany) falls to Earth in Los Angeles, cuts off his wings, and raids a police arsenal for a cache of automatic weapons. Confronted by two LAPD officers, one becomes possessed and kills the other. Michael kills the possessed cop and steals his car.

The remainder of the story takes place in a small roadside diner and garage in the middle of the New Mexico desert. Its semi-permanent residents are the diner's owner, Bob Hanson (Quaid), his son Jeep (Black), the short-order cook Percy (Charles S. Dutton) and the waitress, Charlie (Palicki). Charlie is pregnant with an absentee father's child, and Jeep has always loved her, though he is afraid to say so. Also present are a single father on his way to L.A., Kyle (Tyrese Gibson), and an urban married couple, Howard and Sandra Anderson (Jon Tenney and Kate Walsh), and their rebellious teenaged daughter, Audrey (Willa Holland), who have been temporarily stranded at the diner after their car has broken down.

Soon after, an old woman arrives and tells Charlie that her baby is going to burn. Enraged, Charlie leaves before the old woman taunts Howard and Sandra, thus setting Howard off into a rage but the old woman bites him in the neck. She climbs up the ceiling and knocks out Bob, though Kyle shoots her with his pistol that he was hiding. Later, they try to hurry Howard away via car though are forced to go back after passing through a fly swarm. When they return later Michael arrives.

God has lost faith in humankind so he sends down his angels to kill all of mankind. First an ice cream van arrives, with the driver being possessed. Then later a large convoy of cars with possessed passengers. They fight them all off though one of them drags Howard away. Later, Sandra finds Howard crucified upside-down with many fatal boils, Sandra tries to save him but his boils pop resulting in his death. Afterwords,the Archangel Gabriel is sent down by God to kill the inhabitants of the diner, when the other angels fail, as Charlie's baby is deemed to be the saviour of mankind. Gabriel and Michael fight, and Gabriel wins, stabbing Michael through the chest with his mace.

Then he sees the dying Bob, who lights a flame to the diner's gas main, blowing up the diner and destroying the remaining possessed. However, Gabriel survives, and swoops down on the fleeing car. As he tries to reach Charlie, Jeep slams on the brakes, sending the car into a crash that pitches Gabriel out. Gabriel finally corners Jeep, Charlie and her baby in the mountains. He is about to kill them, when Michael appears, fully angelic again. His refusal to give up on mankind, including sacrificing his own life, has convinced God to change His mind and give humanity another chance.

The film begins and ends with the same monologue by Charlie: telling how her mother's view of God changed while Charlie was a child, from a loving and merciful God to a stern and unforgiving one. When the young Charlie asked why He had changed, her mother said, "I don't know. Maybe He was just tired of all the bullshit."

By moonlight, three bodies float to the surface of the western Massachusetts stretch of the Connecticut river. At South Station, Boston, Thomas Craven (Mel Gibson) picks up his daughter, Emma (Bojana Novakovic), who has returned home to visit. She throws up, while getting into Thomas' car. At home, as he prepares a meal, Emma starts a nosebleed and vomits violently and as they hurriedly leave to find a hospital, a masked gunman yells, “Craven,” and fires two shotgun blasts at Emma simultaneously. Blasted through the door, she dies in Thomas' arms.

At first, everyone believes that Thomas, a police detective, was the gunman's target, but when Thomas finds Emma had a pistol in her night stand, he starts to suspect that Emma was an intended target. He checks the ownership of the pistol and finds that it belongs to her boyfriend David (Shawn Roberts). David is frightened of the company Northmoor where Emma worked and Thomas discovers that Emma became aware that Northmoor was manufacturing nuclear weapons, intended to be traced to foreign nations if they are used as dirty bombs. Following the failed break-in of the activists, Emma was poisoned with thallium through a carton of organic milk. Burning her effects in his lawn, Thomas encounters Jedburgh (Ray Winstone), a "consultant" tasked to prevent Craven from discovering Emma's information, or kill him. Liking each other, instead, Jedburgh leaves Thomas to investigate. Throughout the film, Thomas repeatedly imagines he hears and sees his daughter, even having short conversations and interactions with her.

Thomas also has several encounters with Northmoor mercenaries, and he eventually discovers through Emma's activist contact that Jack Bennett (Danny Huston), head of Northmoor, ordered the murder of his daughter, as well as the activists Emma was working with to steal evidence of the illegal nuclear weapons. Northmoor personnel kill a hitman marked as a fall guy after he is set up for killing Emma's boyfriend, and attempt to murder another activist who gave Emma's information to Thomas. After confronting a lawyer and Senator that Emma contacted, revealing that he knows almost everything that happened, Bennett has Northmoor operatives allow Thomas to be poisoned with thallium, as his daughter had been.

Thomas, now very sick, arrives at Bennett's house and kills the mercenaries, one of whom Thomas realizes is the man who shot his daughter. Bennett shoots Thomas, but Thomas tackles Bennett and pulls out the radioactive milk. He forces it down Bennett's throat and collapses. Bennett runs to his cabinet to get pills to counteract the radioactivity but Tom drags himself over and shoots Bennett through the throat.

Thomas is hospitalized for the gunshot wounds and radioactive poisoning. Jedburgh, who is revealed to be suffering from a terminal illness, meets with Moore, the Senator (for whom he had been working) and a political advisor. He listens to their suggestions as to how to play the Northmoor incident in a positive light. He tells them that he is done and then suggests an assassination attempt on the Senator should be the feature story, to drive Bennett’s death out of the tabloids. They are happy to go along with the story until Jedburgh tells the senator that he is on the wrong side of the equation. Jedburgh then pulls out his gun and shoots all three men dead before a young Massachusetts State Trooper comes in, gun drawn. Jedburgh gets the drop on the trooper and asks if the young man has a family and kids. The young man says yes and Jedburgh lowers his gun, and is instantly shot and killed by the trooper.

As Thomas lies dying in the hospital, we see Emma walk into his room, then lean down at his bedside and whisper in his ear. Across town, a young reporter opens a letter from Thomas with DVDs revealing the conspiracy, with Thomas's “good luck” wishes, ensuring the company's end. As he dies, Emma comforts him. Then the father and daughter leave the hospital together, walking down the corridor into a bright, white light.

* Mel Gibson as Thomas Craven, a homicide detective for the Boston Police Department. Gibson is a fan of the television series, and the film marks his first starring role since 2002's We Were Soldiers and Signs. Gibson attended a gun club with two policemen to improve his marksmanship for the film.
* Ray Winstone as Darius Jedburgh, a CIA officer sent to cover up the murder. Robert De Niro had been cast in the role, but he walked out just after he arrived to begin shooting, due to creative differences.

Pyaar Impossible is about a girl Alisha (Priyanka Chopra) and a guy named Abhay (Uday Chopra) who attend the same university, Alisha is the college beauty.The geeky-looking Abhay saves her from drowning, but circumstances keep him from seeing her again. Seven years later, still carrying a torch for her, Abhay is a software programmer who has come up with a breakthrough product. When an unscrupulous would-be investor steals the software and prepares to sell it to a Singapore company, Ahbay follows him there. To his surprise, the company's marketing and public relations head is Alisha, now Alisha Merchant after getting married and divorced. Alisha has a 6-year-old daughter, Tania, who is a smart, precocious, uncontrollable terror to her babysitters. Alisha mistakes Abhay, who she doesn't recognize, as the new sitter she was expecting. Taking it as an opportunity to get to know her better, Abhay takes the job. But he needs to win over Tania and confront the man who stole his software. Finally, because of the song that Tania sang in her school function, Alisha realizes she loves Abhay. She stops Varun by telling the software the true password that Abhay had put; "Alisha", leaving the two new lovers to be together with Tania.
